Students need to be engaged in designed learning to prepare them with skills such as collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity.

 

As the Catering Coordinator you will take ownership of the preparation, cooking and serving of meals at Camp Wombaroo, ensuring appropriate quality and quantity and adherence with safe food handling practices. The role includes managing and organising a small team of kitchen staff.

This is a fulltime role based at our Camp Wombaroo site in High Range, NSW.

 

Salary: Between $52,000 - $58,000 dependent on experience

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a member of The Outdoor Education Group Outdoor Learning Division and a direct report to the Site Manager, you will:

  • Take responsibility in the scope of your role for the performance, reputation and growth of The Outdoor Education Group.
  • Work collaboratively with your colleagues to manage and support day to day activities.
  • Role model passion for the benefits of outdoor education for the development of young Australians
  • Role model The Outdoor Education Group values of respect and taking responsibility for self, others and the natural world
  • Support the implementation of key strategies and actions that support the achievement of The Outdoor Education Group’s strategic vision and objectives
  • Participate in and support the overall work of The Outdoor Education Group.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Catering Coordinator, you:

  • Ensure all catering / kitchen areas and food handling practices comply with statutory and camp regulations, and all preparation, cooking and serving of meals is in line with recipe requirements.
  • Ensure Workplace Health and Safety is a part of the daily culture.
  • Take ownership of and ensure that our food delivery, quality and quantity is appropriate to run our programs.
  • Provide performance reviews for and appropriately roster your team.
  • Look for opportunities to share resources nationally within the larger department to benefit and enhance work opportunities for the broader team.
  • Ensure stock control procedures are in place and being followed to ensure accurate and timely data flow to our finance team.

KEY CRITERIA

To The Outdoor Education Group you bring the following:

  • Experience in a commercial cooking environment
  • Demonstrated experience and/or qualifications in the management of food safety, team leadership and awareness of good OH&S practises, including a current Supervisor’s Food Handling Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Customer focused with a proven ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Ability to make decisions that improve delivery for the camp and align with the organisation’s strategic direction while controlling the cost base
  • Ability to work alongside your team and operate under pressure
  • Available to work a flexible roster and be on call.
